Economic Offences by S. Subramanian

i love working on typographic covers. The author has refined sensibilities as well to accept a simple, stark cover as this.

Roars and Trumpets by Gurpreet Singh

A book about elephants and the jungle! i had shot the elephant and the jungle at two different times, they come together wonderfully though.

The Kite Flyers by Sharad P. Paul

This sure wasn't as easy as flying a kite! (if there is a saying like this). i never found kite-flying easy anyway and this cover design was no exception. There were quite a few options i sent out before the one chosen was taken in.

The ones that were not selected (i hate to use the work rejected) are also put up. Anyone want a framed painting for that blank wall . . .!

Right now, i like moving away from the photograph dominated cover design, if i HAVE to use photos then i'd like to play around, tweak, sort-of mess around the image a bit (my way of doing things). Though i can't do this for all types of books. Maybe i could have thrown in an image or two for the finally selected cover, but pure vector illustration has it's pull! what say?

The Himalayan Revelation

Some time ago Pankaj Misra got in touch and said he had a book he's written that needed a cover. Since it has Hampi featured in it and then it goes all the way to the Himalayas and China even, it got me interested, and this is what i did for him . . .

Jacob Hills

Here i have used two images that i shot when i was in Chickmagalur, Karnataka. At one of the hills in Mullayanagiri.

The type for the title design has a nice colored drop-shadow which was spot laminated. i went berserk on the colors for this cover!, quiet different from what i usually do.

Not Only The Things That Have Happened by Mridula Koshy

The printed book
Notice the typo details on the spine :-)

Emboss and spot-lam details

The full cover, with flaps

Figuring out the type was one crazy job, but enjoyed it very much. Love typo covers!
